During the December 2013 ice storm in the greater Toronto area, our neighbourhood was hit as bad as all the others. The sheet of ice that started at our front door was like the yellow brick road, it continue to every neighbouring home from here in Richmond Hill to downtown Toronto, out east and west of the city. It was crazy! As the trooper that I am with my early morning walk with Koda, my 16 month bouvier puppy, I got up the day of the storm and everyday after and walked. And I didn’t fall once. Slipped a bit, almost fell, maybe thought I would fall, but NOPE, Rosee no fall down! Wait for it… it finally happened, last week on Monday Jan 16th, 2014 I fell down, went boom and laid there, with a trickle of a tear runing down my right eye. The tear was not because I was in excrutiating pain, it was cause my little ego went boom! I am a goal setter, you know the kind, high acheiver. Can you relate? I had decided that I was going to run a record, walk everymorning and not fall down during this Atlantis ice age we are experiencing. And crap, it didn’t work! Here is what happened. We were walking down the icy path to the pond, thats one of the places I do my morning mediation with Koda by myside, and all was good until Koda decided to sit down and take a stance. She was trying to tell me not to go any further. “Hey, Koda, I’m the human, I decide where we walk.” I said to her. She got up and we proceeded down the icy hill. NO that’s not where it happened. As Koda suspected, it was to icy to go further, so we turned around and walked of the snowy ice path and there was a black spot and I stepped down and it was black ice, I went up and you, know that what ever goes up must come DOWN!!! There I lay, with Koda hovering over me, making sure I was ok. She has no ego, she did not say, “told ya so mom!” As the loyal bouvier that she is, she stayed right beside me and waited until I blinked. LOL! I have a third degree brown belt, you’d think that my brake fall would have been more effective. Well, it was, I did brake fall with my hands, but my beautiful elbows got in the way and they both got smashed. Once up, the stinging pain in both elbows was excrutiating. My hip was hit, so we slowly walked home. Once I got home I took arnica, hypericum and ledum (homeopathic remedies) every hour. Lo and behold hip and every other part of my body was ok. A bit stiff, but thats ok. Through this process, the one thing that I learned is a whole new appreciation for my elbows. Did you know that if your elbows are not functioning optimally then you can’t use the to turn on or off the lights. You can’t but them on the table, I hope they heal by passover, when it’s aloud to have elbows on the table. If  your elbows are not functioning optimally when you wear a coat it hurts if you bend your arm. And the
